The
contract work I have done consists mostly of freelance jobs and of course,
the little favors we all tend to do for our friends and family. My theory
is that if you do what the client wants when the client wants it done,
they will be satisfied. If they are satisfied they have no reason not
to continue working with me and possibly passing my name on to others
that may need my services. I try to help my clients beyond the design
by networking them with reliable printers, isp's or other companies that
I have worked with. Spending time with the client figuring out what they
want and need is a very good starting point of the process. I can tell
teach them what I know about the products they want and together with
their ideas hopefully we can decide on the best solution for them. |

North
Shore Animal League America is the largest no-kill shelter in the world.
Located in Port Washington, NY, North Shore employees about 400 people
and on any given day has around 600 animals. I was hired on as a contract
web employee, to maintain a site for it's sister organization in the UK,
www.petadoptathon.com. I also did some design work for a charity luncheon
as North Shore is non-profit. The ideas I came up with were so well received
that they were added to the ideas for North Shore's new company logo.
Upon my completion of my contract work, I was asked by North Shore to
stay on as a member of the web team to re-design and launch the new company
web site. Myself, 2 programmers and a content person re-built the 450
page site with a completely new design and content in 45 days. I was in
charge of all design aspects of the entire site. I enjoyed my time at
North Shore and gained a large amount of web experience. The aspect of
non-profit was appealing to me as it is much more of a challenge to get
people to donate money than it is to sell them a product. It is a different
mind set. |

Ad
design advertising located in College Point Queens, NY is an established
agency providing advertising, marketing and printing for the New York
City area. I was hired as a graphic designer and along with other designers
and account executives created a number of printed pieces for local businesses.
The bulk of my work was for newspaper and magazine publication but I also
created logos, brochures, business cards/letterhead and signage. The chamber
of commerce published a bi-monthly free magazine in which I designed new
ads, updated existing ads and formatted the 30 plus pages. The skills
I received from ad design were numerous. The extreme pace coupled with
the skill and knowledge of my employers and co-workers forced me to sharpen
my skills. I gained a vast wealth of knowledge of how advertising runs
on a day to day basis. My employment at ad design was probably the most
important of my career. The people there work hard each and every day
and they were more than willing to answer any of my question or concerns.
My time at ad design was very amusing as the group of people are about
as quirky and emotional as I've seen. They taught me anything I wanted
to know about the advertising business and more than a few things about
life in general. I had a great time there. |

Lion
Inc. is a mortgage solutions company with offices in Denver and Seattle.
Lion boasts online solutions to help the mortgage broker, lender and consumer.
Myself and others at Lion designed and built between 30 and 50 web sites
a month. As a web designer I met with the clients immediately after the
sale to set up the overall look and feel of their new site along with
the navigation. Once an idea was approved by the client, I cut the images
and prepared them for the web. As the image and branding manager my client
was the Lion corporation. My goal was to re-design Lion's image to both
consumers and brokers/lenders. Our goal was also to make Lion Inc a leader
in the mortgage marketplace. |
